Sample Making
step FOUR: sample making
MUSLIN TOILE
first sample / prototype / fit sample
showroom sample
PP SAMple / pre production sample
wash or garment performance test sample
Before you move into your first sample, you have the option for us to create a Muslin Toile in order to preliminarily test your garment. It is important to note that your muslin is not meant to replace your prototype, nor should you depend on this solely for your fit edits. Your First Sample or Prototype will be cut with either your production fabric or sample fabric that is similar to what your final product will be cut in in order to test the style and fit of the product. It should contain all of the correct design features and finishes. We can use your Prototype or Fit Sample to conduct your Fitting (see next step for details) and record your first round of Technical Fit Edits. After your fitting you will more than likely make edits and run subsequent samples before you reach your final Pre Production Sample. The PP Sample is the final sample that you will have your volume manufacturing facility refer to. This sample should be constructed in your production fabrics. If you have a showroom or sales rep you may need multiple samples for sales purposes. We can make multiples of your product in your sample size before or after you have worked through your final edits, this is a personal preference. Depending on the product, you may also need to think about having Wash Test Samples made in order to test wash durability. There are also performance tests that can be conducted. This type of service would need to be conducted by a third party and is not a service we provide. We can provide references.
